58th Curbo Family Reunion

When:  3pm on Sunday, June 21, 2009 until noon on Tuesday, June 23, 2009

This will be our third reunion at the at the Whoop & Holler Ranch.  We had lots of fun last summer, so come join us again for even more fun and activities.  Bring your fishing pole, swim suit, favorite games, and a big appetite!

Since the facilities weren't available for a weekend, we will check in on Sunday afternoon, June 21.  The camp will be completely ready for us by 3 p.m., but it's okay to come an hour or two earlier so you can get a good start on visiting or even get going on some fishing or a game of horseshoes!  (Remember the cabins will not be ready until 3 p.m.)

All cabins are air-conditioned and bed linens are provided, but you'll need to bring your own bath linens.  RV hookups are available at $15 per day.  There is no charge for tent camping.  There are some outdoor chairs and benches, but you'll probably want your own lawn chairs.

There is a Recreation Hall that Bob Curbo has agreed to fund for our use.  It includes two pool tables, a ping pong table, and a piano, as well as a nice lake-view deck.  Should there not be enough cabins, this building will be great for the overflow crowd we expect.

There is a small lake and also a nice stock pond for fishing (catch & release).  We can fish is the bayou and keep our catch, but you'll need a license for bayou fishing.  Paddle boats can be rented at an extra charge ($25 for one boat for our entire stay; two boats are currently available.)  There is also an above-ground pool, horseshoes, volleyball, washers, and tetherball.  If you're not familiar with above-ground pools, please know that the pool is 4 feet deep, so no diving and no jumping and no cannon-balling into the pool for safety reasons.  Also, no sitting on the sides.  The only safe way to enter an above-ground pool is stepping off the ladder.

We are responsible for cleaning the camp before we leave or forfeit the $100 cleaning deposit, so be sure to help with that before you leave at noon on Tuesday.

The auction has proven to be the major fund raiser and is responsible for our being able to have these nice facilities.  Please bring good, new items, either bought or made, to bring in money to pay for next year and plan to BUY!  No Garage Sale items, please!  At last year's business meeting is was voted for the reunion funds to pay for the facilities at Whoop & Holler.  The only way we can do this is with the auction or donations.

Make plans to attend the 58th Annual Curbo Family Reunion and let's keep it going.  It's a good way to keep up with everyone and make some good memories.  If you have not contacted Tony Keesee or Jennifer Williams, the Curbo Cookbook Committee, with your recipes, bring them to the reunion.  If you have any questions, just call.  The Ranch is easy to find and I have included a map on another sheet and also a list of motels nearby.
